Confirmed incident information The incident occurred on February 5, 2025, inside UnionWest, the UCF/Valencia downtown campus-affiliated housing complex in Orlando. UCF Police said officers responded to reports that Vick had been in a verbal altercation with several juveniles. Separate police-report-based coverage indicates one officer was already dealing with an unrelated suspected vehicle theft at the building when the confrontation with Vick developed. According to the police report and body-camera footage: Officers instructed Vick to lower their voice and later attempted to detain them. Police alleged Vick refused commands, moved away from the officers and physically resisted. Officers alleged Vick swung or struck toward them, kicked an officer and attempted to grab equipment from an officer’s vest. Pepper spray and a Taser were used before Vick was handcuffed. The difference is substantial: Battery on a law-enforcement officer is reclassified as a third-degree felony under Florida Statute §784.07. Resisting with violence under §843.01 is a third-degree felony. Resisting without violence under §843.02 is a first-degree misdemeanor.
